A Luxury Wedding in the middle of a Hurricane
Amber and Mike planned for a luxury style beachfront wedding this past October in Rehoboth Delaware with sand colored tablescapes, bright white floral designs by the bride’s cousin and florist with a gown and details fit for the Met Gala. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. A hurricane ripped through the sleepy beach town just days before the couple drove in from their home in New York City. Their original plans washed away with little beach left for the couple’s event and gusts of winds not suitable for their sailcloth tent. Over the next three days, the couple worked on plan B: a wedding at a bar. With only 72 hours to re-adjust, it was their only option but, oddly enough, a fitting one. Amber and Mike met at a bar and have spent countless summers singing along to live music at The Rusty Rudder, an indoor/outdoor venue in Dewey Beach with tiki bars and two large stages for a band. While certainly not their first choice, they made it work and man, did they work it well. It was all hands on deck for the couple, their wedding party and their vendor team to create beachy elegance in a space that typically ended the evening with sticky floors. This wedding is one for the books and a really good lesson in honing in on what matters most when the going gets tough. While every detail originally planned may not have been accounted for, this day was overflowing with community and love. It’s a wedding we’ll forever be proud of and a couple we’ll never forget!
